Michael Lankford is a lifelong Montgomery County resident who believes strong communities are built through service, trust, and shared responsibility. As the County Commissioner for District 6, he works every day to ensure local voices are heard and that Montgomery County continues to grow in a way that honors its people, neighborhoods, and traditions.
Since being elected to the Montgomery County Commission in 2022, Michael has focused on listening to residents, collaborating with fellow leaders, and addressing the real, day to day needs of one of Tennessee’s fastest growing counties. His committee work has given him a hands on understanding of how local decisions affect families, schools, roads, farms, and small businesses across the community.
Professionally, Michael serves as a Commercial Banker with a local community bank, where he partners closely with small business owners, farmers, and nonprofit organizations. This role keeps him deeply connected to the people who power Montgomery County’s economy and gives him a practical perspective on how thoughtful policy can support local growth and opportunity.
Michael is a proud graduate of Austin Peay State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business, and University of Tennessee at Martin, where he earned a Master of Science in Agriculture Business and Risk Management. He is also a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and Leadership Tennessee NEXT, experiences that strengthened his commitment to servant leadership and broadened his understanding of the challenges facing communities across the state.
An active member of the community, Michael is involved with Queen City Masonic Lodge #761, the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville, Central Civitan, and 2nd Mile Baptist Church. Above all, he is dedicated to giving back to the place he calls home and working alongside his neighbors to build a stronger future for Montgomery County.
